AUTHOR’S NOTE:
This is a fan retelling of the first eight years of Todd McFarlane’s supernatural superhero character Spawn that debuted in 1992. Each of the first 100 issues of Spawn (as well as related tales and stories) have been abbreviated into approximately one page of comics.
This project comes from a place of love and appreciation for the work of Todd McFarlane, Greg Capullo, Tom Orzechowski, Steve Oliff, Alan Moore, Tony Daniel and the many other talented people involved in the shaping of this classic and widely celebrated character. I strongly encourage readers to purchase the original works upon which this tribute is derived.
The subtitle “Grand Design” is in reference to the work of the late Ed Piskor and fellow professionals Jim Rugg and Tom Scioli. Their passion, insights, and creativity via Cartoonist Kayfabe have deeply influenced this project.
The order of presentation which I have been inspired to follow was originally put together by Blake Whitlow, co-host of The Daily Spawn podcast.
